Long-Term Rentals
Dwelling units may be rented out for periods of 30 days or greater after obtaining an annual license from Mount Joy Township. Long-term rental license applications are due by December 31st for the following calendar year, with inspections conducted every other year. Online submissions are accepted by completing this Google form or emailing the completed rental license application found below to Codes Compliance Official Dan Ford. Applications will be processed after receiving the $50 annual license fee. Check or cash can be accepted in person at the Township Office or sent by mail, and we offer an online payment option.

Short-Term Lodging
The Board of Supervisors amended the Township Zoning Ordinance in 2020 to allow the short-term rental of permitted dwelling units. Short-term lodging, i.e. vacation rentals or Airbnbs, can be rented for continuous periods of up to 30 days if they meet the required standards found in Section 135-274 of the ordinance. Inspections are required once every other year, similar to a long-term rental. This use is permitted in the following zoning districts:
- R – Rural District
- OS – Open Space and Conservation District
- A – Agricultural District
- R-1 – Low Density Residential District
- R-2 – Medium Density Residential District
- R-3 – High Density Residential District
